NILES – The Howard Township 9-year-old All-Stars captured the Cal Ripken State Tournament championship last weekend by defeating host Lanse Creuse North 6-1 in the title game.
Howard Township reached the finals by defeating Lanse Creuse North in the first game 6-1 and then knocking off Brandywine 4-2.
In the Brandywine game, Alex Harpenau had a home run, while in the title game Bryce Lake was named Player of the Game.
Howard Township will now host the Ohio Valley Regional beginning on Monday.
The team consists of Brett Barnum, Mitchell Findieson, Brett Lake, Dawson Clemons and Bryce Lake, Dustin Anders, Alex Harpeneau, Jacob Hamm, Cody Glick and Jarred Purucker. It is coached by Scott Purucker, Mark Clemons and Brent Lake.
