Louis W. Erwin, 70, of Stateline Road, Niles, died at 11:30 p.m. Sunday, July 13, 2008, at West Woods of Niles, following an extended illness.
The family will gather in Wyoming to share memories and final placement.
He was born on June 6, 1938, in Lyon, Miss., to Louis William Erwin, Sr. and Lula Posey.
He had lived in Niles during the 1950s and 70s and returned to Niles in 2004.
He had been employed at A.M.F. Tubescope in Houston, Texas.
Erwin served during peacetime in the United States Marine Corps.
He volunteered with the Boy Scouts as an adult leader for his sons. He enjoyed country music.
He was also a bull rider in area rodeos in Wyoming and participated in the annual reenactment of the Pony Express.
Surviving family includes three sons, Stephen L. (Teresa) Erwin of Gaylord, William H.. Erwin of New Smyrna Beach, Fla. and Troy D. Erwin; a daughter, Connie L. Flannagan of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sister, Nana S. Robinson of Gobles and Ruth Ann Hoover of Glendale, Ariz. and a brother, Dubb Erwin of Amarillo, Texas.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Don Erwin.
Memorials may be made to Fernwood Botanic Gardens and Nature Center, Niles.
Arrangements were by Halbritter Funeral Home, Niles.
