Protect the Wandering
Is someone you care about at risk for wandering away and becoming lost due to the effects of Alzheimer's disease or another disorder? Project Lifesaver can provide safety and peace of mind. Berrien County TRIAD has raised the money to purchase equipment for Project Lifesaver. There are currently two mobile tracking units in the county. Clients who are part of the program wear a personalized wristband that emits a tracking signal. When a caregiver reports the person as missing, a search and rescue team is alerted and starts searching with a mobile tracking unit.
Search times are reduced from hours and days to minutes. The signal can be tracked from several miles and even from inside buildings.
The initial cost is $300, and there is a monthly fee of $10 for battery replacements. Some financial assistance may be available. For more information, contact Berrien County Sheriff's Deputy Karen Klug at (269) 685-3887, ext. 7221.
