Niles Wolverines to host first round match

NILES – Athletic Jaier captured the 2008 Blossomland Soccer League regular season championship with a 6-2 win over Dura Mold FC at Rockey Weed Field in Stevensville on Sunday.
Kempess Villafana scored three goals and George Kolettis two goals as Jaier improved to 6-0-2 on the season.
Also scoring for Jaier was Mikey John-Williams.
Rob Brashhorn and Arden Kamala had the goals for Dura Mold, which dipped to 3-4.
In an interdivisional exhibition match, Barcelona defeated the Tornados 8-3.
Israel Santana scored four goals for Barcelona, which also got goals from Francisco Fonseca, Justin Brown, Carlos Morales and Emmanuel Santana.
Scoring for the Tornados were Andy Low, Kyle Kowalski and Ryan Smithberger.
The First Division Tournament is set with top-seeded Athletic Jaier taking on fourth seed Diamonds Premier in one match and No. 2 seed St. Joe Kickers facing No. 3 seed Whirlpool United on Thursday, July 17 at 6:30 p.m.
A date, time and location for the Jaier-Diamonds match has yet to be determined.
The four teams are set for the Second Division Tournament, however, who will play who will be determined on Thursday in the match between the Dowagiac Dawgs and Barcelona.
If Barcelona defeated the Dawgs, the Niles Wolverines will host the Dawgs, while Barcelona will host Buchanan.
If Dowagiac wins, the Wolverines will host Barcelona and the Dawgs will host Buchanan.
The matches will be played on Thursday, July 17 at 6:30 p.m.
