Evelyn D. Womble, 86, of South 12th Street, Niles, died at 4:55 p.m. on Tuesday, July 1, 2008, at Lakeland Specialty Hospital, Berrien Center, following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 7, at Halbritter Funeral Home, Niles, with Pastor Carl L. Harrison of Trinity United Methodist Church, Niles, and Mr. John Diller of Buchanan, officiating.
Committal services will follow at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens in Niles.
The family will receive friends and relatives at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday.
She was born on May 14, 1922, in Porterfield, Wis. to Sandy Alex and Anna (La Rock) Furst. She had lived in this area since 1945, coming from Wisconsin.
She retired after 22 years of service with Simplicity Pattern Company, Niles.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Niles.
On June 4, 1949, in Niles, she married Robert E. Womble, who died on Sept. 10, 1999.
She is survived by her children, Keith Womble of Blacksburg, Va. and Randy (Mary) Womble of Niles; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Jessie Womble of Niles, Roseanna Tews of Milwaukee, Wis., Gladys Lohse of Menominee, Wis. and brothers, Gordon and Kenneth Furst of Marinette, Wis.
Four sisters and brothers preceded her in death.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Activities Fund at Lakeland Continuing Care Center, Berrien Center.
Arrangements were by Halbritter Funeral Home, Niles.
