Little League district tourneys set to begin

NILES – With the Fourth of July weekend rapidly approaching, it's time to start looking forward to the Michigan Little League District 15 state tournament.
The 9-10 year-old tournament is scheduled to begin on July 8 with all games being played in Niles at the F.O.P. complex.
Niles will take on Centreville in the opening round on July 8 at 6 p.m. In the second game, Marcellus-Cass will face Vicksburg Red at 8 p.m.
On July 10, Centreville will face Marcellus-Cass at 6 p.m. and Vicksburg will face Niles at 8 p.m.
The third round on July 14 will pit Niles against Marcellus-Cass at 6 p.m. and Vicksburg against Centreville also at 6.
The top two teams will advance to the championship bracket, which will also be hosted by Niles.
Those games will be played July 21-23.
11-12 Tournament
Niles will open up play in the 11-12 year-old district tournament on Thursday when it travels to Three Rivers to take on the winner of tonight's Mattawan White Pigeon game.
The winner on Thursday advances to the July 10 quarterfinals, which will be played in Vicksburg at 6 p.m. The semifinals are scheduled to July 12 in Vicksburg at 1 p.m. and the title game on July 14 at 6 p.m.
13-14 Tournament
Niles will begin play in the 13-14 districts on Sunday, July 6 in Schoolcraft against Constantine at 11 a.m.
The winner advances to the quarterfinals on July 10 in Vicksburg. The semifinals are slated for 6 p.m. on July 14 in Vicksburg and the title game on July 16 at 6 p.m. in Constantine.
Cassopolis will open up tournament play on July 5 at 1 p.m. in Schoolcraft against White Pigeon. The winner advances to face Centreville in Schoolcraft on July 6 at 6 p.m.
Senior Tournament
Three Rivers and host Vicksburg will square off on July 12 with the winner moving on to face Niles on July 15 at 6 p.m.
The winner advances to the finals, also in Vicksburg, on July 19 at 1 p.m.
