Whew! After months and months of Saturday practices, two regional competitions, many community performances and two weeks of intensive practices, Positively Dance heads for Orlando, Fla., June 30 for the Competition Team to participate in Dance America's National Dance Competition.
The competition will be from July 2-5.
The 19-member team will compete with dancers throughout the United States in jazz, lyrical, tap, clogging and ballet.
Group numbers as well as two solos will be performed at the competition.
The team will also attend workshops while at the competition .
On July 7 the entire 26-member Positively Dance Team will perform at Magic Music Days at Walt Disney World in the Magic Kingdom.
The team has a 25-five minute show in which they will do seven dances.
Yes, that is seven dances in 25 minutes – including costume changes, which they practiced along Depot Drive Thursday afternoon.
Fast, hot and furious will be the order of things in that 25-minute performance, but the girls are certainly looking forward to this opportunity that has been given them.
This is a dream come true for many of the girls, as most of them have never been to Walt Disney World.
Positively Dance and Positively Dance Boosters want to thank the community for supporting the many fundraisers that the dancers have done over the past year to help them with the costs of going to the national competition and the trip to Florida.
Without the support of you, the community members, it would not be possible for this small dance group from a small town in Michigan to have the opportunity to experience a national competition.
The team returns from competition on July 10.
