It may not have all the answers, but it is a good place to start looking.
Leader Publications' Answer Book will be inserted into our daily and weekly papers this week.
Once a year our staff works to produce an informative guide which is extremely helpful to newcomers, but also to those who have been members of our communities for a long time.
The book is an easy way to look up phone numbers to our government and school officials and buildings.
For the last few years I have found it a great, quick resource when I need to know an officials name or number.
In the past few years we have requested photos from readers to use in Answer Book and again we received some good ones.
Whether you are a golfer, or want to take a canoe trip down the Dowagiac Creek, need to look quickly at a map, or could use help in finding out where the nearby art galleries are located, here is your answer.
An informative article tells about our local museum at Southwestern Michigan College.
Other museums in the area and other historical sites are described.
Should you find the gas prices too high, you might enjoy the walking tour offered for the Dowagiac area.
Dates for coming events are listed to help plan your summer and fall.
If you are planning a wedding or other event, service people from flowers to cakes are listed.
An apartment guide can give you a look at what is available and the starting prices.
Do you need some home improvements? There are pages of local businesses just waiting for your call.
For our aging population, there is a selection of organizations and businesses tailored to their needs.
And for the newcomers to the area there is everything from help in finding that new home to how to hook up your utilities.
Numbers and information from nearby hospitals and doctors are helpful to both newcomers and those who are seeking health assistance.
Since our fitness is so important, there are places to help either get you in shape or help you get there.
Whether you live in Sister Lakes or Edwardsburg or Niles, there are special pages to see what is happening and who is in business near your area, waiting to help you.
So keep your copy handy. There is a wonderful photo of a dragonfly on the front, sent in by Lois Stethem of Niles.
The Answer Book will be inserted into Thursday's Niles Daily Star, Edwardsburg Argus, Cassopolis Vigilant and Dowagiac Daily News.
Additional copies will be supplied to our local Chamber of Commerces and will be available at our Niles office.
