Eleanor Mabel Huffman, 81, of Hot Springs, Ark. and formerly of Niles, died on Sunday, June 22, 2008.
She has been cremated.
She was born on on May 28, 1917, in Niles, to Hazel Mae (Bolton) and Lloyd Basil Barnes. She lived in Niles until moving to Arkansas in 2006 to live with her daughter and son-in-law.
She retired from Michigan Bell Telephone Company on May 19, 1978, after 29 years of service. She was a telephone operator and a member of The Pioneers, a telephone fraternity.
She enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She liked to swim and travel. She and her husband Robert "Bob" L. Huffman spent many enjoyable winters in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Surviving family includes a son, Robert E. (Ida) Griefer of Niles and her grandchildren, Graceann, Robin and Rachel; her daughter and caregivers, Ruth E. (Jerry) Griefer Harbaugh of Hot Springs, Ark.; grandchildren, Diane (Tom) Harbaugh Pierson: Alan (Laurie) Harbaugh and Hillary Pierson; a sister, Audrey (Max) Barnes Kebschull of South Bend, Ind.; a brother, Basil (Louise) Barnes of Niles; step-children, Marie (Bill) Lesinak Weimer, Noel (Phyllis) Lesinak; a son, Michael (Sherri) Huffman and grandson, Eric of Grand Junction, Colo.; a granddaughter, Jeannie Griefer of Florida and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three husbands Robert E, Griefer, Sr., Glenn Lesinak and Robert L. Huffman; sisters, Dorthy Barnes Mapes and Patricia Barnes Primley; a brother, Donald Barnes and a granddaughter, Roxanne Griefer.
