Edwardsburg softball team earns Academic All-State

EDWARDSBURG – The Edwardsburg girls' softball team won its first Lakeland Conference championship this past spring, and several of their platers distinguished themselves, both in the classroom and on the field.
Led by senior pitcher Jeni Boellenbacher, who was named team MVP, helped lead the Eddies to a 21-10 record.
Boellenbacher was also a whiz in the classroom, earning a 3.93 GPA and a spot on the LAC All-Conference First Team.
This was the second straight year that the softball team has won Academic All-State award.
Aloong with Boellenbacher,- three other Eddies players earned this award. Ashley Ward (3.88), Elizabeth Huffman (3.69) and Courtney Steele (3.65).
Five Edwardsburg coaches were named LAC Coaches of the year and these coaches helped guide their teams to conference championships.
The Eddies also clinched the girls All-Sports trophy for the conference.
"Our student athletes should feel very proud of all that was accomplished this past spring," Eddies athletic director Kevin Dean said.
