After only two years Diane Robertson has resigned as the girls varsity headf basketball coach.
Robertson let Edwardsburg athletic director Kevin Dean know of her decision after Memorial Day.
"Family reasons," Robertson said of why she stepped down.
"My husband and I talked about what was best this past season. It was diffucult teaching, coaching, and raising two young kids. If I couldn't give 100 percent to the girls, then it wasn't fair for the girls. Kids are only young once. It was difficult, I enjoyed coaching, it was a lot of fun."
Robertson was 21-18 in her two years at Edwardsburg. Her best sesson was in 2007 when the team went 13-8 overall.
Last winter, the Eddies finished 8-11 and lost to Berrien Springs, 34-31 in the districts.
Roberson sees a bright future for the Eddies girls basketball program.
"It is heading in the right direction, there is a small feeder system in the works, but the upcoming team will be young."
Robertson will continue to teach physical education at the high school and hasn't ruled out coaching again.
"No, I have been coaching for 21 years, I could coach something else, we will see," she said.
"I am disappointed, but understand. I enjoyed working with her and she did a great job," Dean said. "She will help with the transition and be there for support."
The search for a new girls basketball coach will begin immediately according to Dean.
