Indiana West edges Michigan in Sports Fest girls’ tennis

MISHAWAKA, Ind. – Buchanan's Brianna Weldy and Mary Martin made the most of their final appearance on the tennis court Monday at Sports Fest 2008.
The duo defeated the Indiana West All-Stars No. 1 doubles team of Taylor Hueni and Britteny Anglin in two sets 7-5, 6-4.
It was a close battle between the evenly matched teams as they put on a great show of athleticism throughout the contest for the fans.
The Indiana West All-Star team advanced to the championships defeating the Michigan team 3-2.
Michigan's first point came by default at No. 2 doubles as the Indiana team was short a player.
Jamie Bartuska (Brandywine) and Ellie Lyman (Bridgman) picked up the win dispite losing 1-6, 1-6 in a two set match.
Indiana West filled the missing spot with a singles player so that Bartuska and Lyman would have the chance to compete.
Amelia Harrison (Brandywine) dropped the No. 1 singles set 0-6, 0-6, No. 2 singles Amanda Klutts (Bridgman) and No. 3 singles C.C. Roberts were also knocked off by the West All-Star team.
