And outstanding season for two area diamond teams will come to an end this weekend in Battle Creek.
Top ranked Brandywine and highly ranked Cassopolis will compete in the baseball and softball state semifinals today at Bailey Park.
We want to wish both the Bobcats and the Lady Rangers good luck today in their attempts to advance to the state finals on Saturday.
But win or lose today, nothing can take away from the record-setting seasons these two school have had this spring.
Brandywine has established a new record for wins in a season as it advanced to the Final Four for the fourth time in school history.
Cassopolis also set a new school record for victories as it won its first regional championship and will be making its inaugural appearance in the Final Four.
More importantly than that is the fact that both of these teams have shown tremendous sportsmanship along the way. They have more than made our two communities proud to say they are fans of either the Bobcats or the Lady Rangers.
Another team, the Niles Lady Vikings also reached the state quarterfinals this week.
Niles, which was ranked No. 1 most of the season, fell to perennial state power Wyoming Rogers 7-6 in extra innings.
We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Niles on its great season, which also saw numerous school records fall.
We also want to say thank you to all three teams for providing us with a lifetime of wonderful memories.
