Protect The Wandering
Project Lifesaver Is someone you care about at risk of wandering away and becoming lost due to the effects of Alzheimer's Disease or another disorder? Project Lifesaver can provide safety and peace of mind. Berrien County TRIAD has raised the money to purchase equipment for this project. There are currently two mobile tracking units in the county. Clients who are part of the program wear personalized wristbands that emit tracking signals. When a caregiver reports the person missing, a search and rescue team is alerted and starts searching with a mobile tracking unit. Search times are reduced from hours and days to minutes. The signal can be tracked from several miles and even from inside buildings. The initial cost is $300 and there is a $10 monthly fee for battery replacement. Some financial assistance may be available For more information, contact Berrien County Sheriff's Deputy Karen Klug at (269) 695-3887 ext. 7221.
