Plenty of action going on at Thomas Stadium

NILES – The Giants improved their record to 4-3 with a 16-11 win over the Astros in Greater Niles Little League Baseball Junior Division play at Thomas Stadium.
The Giants and Astros combined for 12 runs in the first inning. The Giants then scored three runs in the second, third and fifth innings to pull out the victory.
Casey Burandt was the winning pitcher. Jay Williams took the loss.
Aaron Pierce had a single, a triple and an RBI for the Giants, who also got a single and two RBIs from Alec Landon and David Tharp.
Fritz Findieson singled and doubled, while Nick Zimmerman and Matthew Toney both added hits.
Shawn Dudka and Brad Millin both singled twice and drove in runs for the Astros (1-4). James Krause singled and had two RBIs, while Jay Williams singled home a run. Zach Clingenpeel and Tyler Bybee each had a hit.

The Rangers banged out 11 hits and scored 11 runs in the third inning to improve to 4-1 on the season.
Matthew McCaughlin struck out nine and tossed a one-hitter in picking up the win. Cody Taggert took the loss.
Austin Searles had a pair of doubles and a RBI for the Rangers, who also got a single and a triple from McCaughlin. Chris Magnus added a double and a triple, while Alex Grishaber had a pair of singles and a RBI.
Brody Grishaber singled and drove in two runs. Chanc Ravish added a single and a RBI. Ethan Zimmerman contributed a hit as everyone on the Rangers scored at least one run.
The lone Cubs (2-4) hit was a double by Cody Beers, who also scored a run.

Magnus tossed a two-hitter with eight strikeouts to earn the win for the Rangers.
Alex Grishaber had two hits and a RBI for the Rangers, who also got a single and two RBIs from Jacob Whitaker. Magnus tripled and drove in a run for the winners, while McCaughlin added a single and a RBI.
Evan Zimmerman added a single.
The Yankees two hits came on a double from Zack Weber and a single by Steven Rickards.

The Cubs scored a run in the bottom of the seventh to edge the Rangers.
Taggert picked up the win as he did not allow a hit and struck out three.
Zack Holt had a single, a triple and scored ithe game-winning run for the Cubs. Taggert had two singles, drove in three runs and had the game-winning hit.
Casey Cochran singled and drove in a run, while Beers, Trevor Kizer and Dakota McDonald also had hits.
The Rangers got a single and a triple from McCaughlin, as well as a RBI. Ethan Zimmerman singled and drove in a run, as did Austin Searles.
Evan Zimmerman added a double, while Timmy Mead singled and had a RBI. Also collecting hits were Conrad Smallmon and Magnus.

The Yankees scored five runs in the top of the seventh to earn the victory.
Weber struck out three to pick up the win. Jason Andrews took the loss.
Logan Harpenau had three singles, a triple and two RBIs for the Yankees. Dallas Munger added a double and a single, while Weber had four hits and three RBIs.
Dylan King had three singles, a double and two RBIs for the Yankees, who also got three hits and a RBI from Donte Stevens and two singles and a RBI from Cole Clemons. Rickards and Geordan Griffin both finished with a hit.
Pat Van Kirk had two singles, a double and three RBIs to lead the Indians offensively.
Brian Kline singled and doubled, while Mike Schoenleber had three singles and a RBI.
Tyler Fisher singled three times for the Indians, who also got a single and two RBIs from Andrews. Josh Bell singled and drove in a run.

Kelan McKnight struck out three and scattered six hits to earn the win for the Cubs. Sam Clark took the loss for the Astros despite five strikeouts.
Beers had a pair of singles, a triple and a RBI to lead the Cubs. Tyler Parrish singled, doubled and drove in a run, while teammate Holt doubled and drove in a run.
McDonald had two singles and a RBI to go along with a single and a RBI from Taggert, McKnight and Cochran. Kizer added a pair of hits.
Millin singled, doubled and drove in a run for the Astros, who also got a single and two RBIs from Brian Exner. Bybee added a single and a RBI, while Robert Hutton and Jordan Lintz each had a hit.

Findieson tossed a three-hitter with four strikeouts to earn the win for the Giants. Schoenleber took the loss for the Indians.
Landon doubled and tripled to drive in a run for the winners, who also got two hits and a RBI from Toney. Randy Wagner added a double.
Zach Fillwock, Pierce, Josh Alphenaar and Casey Burandt all singled and drove in a run for the Giants. Findieson added a single.
Andrews doubled in a run for the Indians, who also got a single and two RBIs from Van Kirk. Harper and Bell also singled and drove in a run.

Van Kirk scattered five hits and struck out five to pick up the win for the Indians. Krause took the loss for the Astros despite seven strikeouts.
Fisher singled three times, doubled and drove in five runs for the Indians. Schoenleber singled, doubled twice and drove in two runs, while Andrews and Nick Scoggin both singled and picked up a RBI.
The Indians also got two hits from Van Kirk and a single from Harper.
Hutton doubled and drove in a run for the Astros, who also got a single and a RBI from Millin. Stuart Pearman had two hits and Sam Clark a single.
