To the editor:
We would like to sincerely thank the Niles community for their generous response to the annual Stamp Out Hunger Postal Food Drive. An abundance of food was received and delivered to the Salvation Army, Christian Service Center and the First Presbyterian Church. We, in turn, will be distributing these items to the needy of our area. Our pantry shelves are now full, thanks to the overwhelming support of our local citizens.
A big thank you also goes to the local postal carriers who picked up the food, to our volunteer drivers who delivered it and to the volunteers who unloaded and stocked the shelves at our agencies. This huge effort could not happen without the help of so many and we are grateful to all who assisted in any way. As economic times get harder, we are blessed with a very giving community that has responded to this call to prevent food insecurity here in the Niles area.
Matthew 25:35 tells us "For I was hungry and you gave me food. I was thirsty and you gave me drink. I was a stranger and you welcomed me in." There is no greater testimony to one's love of Christ than to serve others. We are truly grateful to be a part of this wonderful community.
