Two suspects sought on drug charges in township

NILES – Arrest warrants are being sought for two Niles Township residents on possession and maintaining a drug house charges.
On Sunday, June 1, Deputy Roger Johnson of the Berrien County Sheriff Department's Niles Township Road Patrol and Officer Swanson of the Niles City Police Department went to 2615 N. US-31 Hwy Lot No. 48 in the Township of Niles looking for an individual on an outstanding arrest warrant.
While the officers were at this residence, the officers discovered evidence of illegal narcotic activity.
The officers then contacted the Berrien County Sheriff Department's Narcotics Unit for assistance.
The Narcotics Unit obtained a search warrant to search this residence for illegal narcotics.
During a search of this residence, the officers located and seized approximately $300 worth of marijuana, pieces of narcotic paraphernalia and several pieces of evidence of illegal narcotic trafficking.
The officers also located and seized a loaded 38 caliber handgun.
During the course of this investigation, the officers developed information on a 20-year-old. Requested charges will include possession of marijuana with intent to deliver second offense, maintaining a drug house second offense, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and felon in possession of a firearm.
The other suspect is a 21-year-old who they are seeking charges for including possession of marijuana second offense and maintaining a drug house second offense.
Arrest warrants on these two individuals are being sought through the Berrien County Prosecutor's Office.
This investigation was successfully completed due to the inter-departmental cooperation of the three police agencies.
