Niles dominates Division 2 All-District squad

EDWARDSBURG – Division 2 District champion Niles dominated the All-District team, which was selected on Monday.
The Lady Vikings had five players named to the squad, as well as coach Gary Collins.
All-District is the first step in the All-State selection process. The All-District selections will now be put up for All-Regional consideration following this weekend's play. Those selected All-Region will then be eligible to be named All-State.
Niles' Jenna Ignowski and Edwardsburg's Jeni Bollenbacher were picked by the district coaches as the All-District pitchers. Maggie Ernsberger of Niles was selected as the catcher.
Sara Cobb of St. Joseph was named at first base, while Nellie Coquillard of Niles was the second base selections. Shelley Aurand of Niles was named at third base and Amy Knapp of Lakeshore at shortstop.
The outfielders were Heather Daniels of Niles, Alex Wittman of St. Joseph and Ashley Brown of Lakeshore.
Dowagiac's Stephanie Grabemeyer was picked as the at-large selection.
Niles' Collins was named Coach of the Year. Edwardsburg was selected for the sportsmanship honor.
