Lula Belle Backus, 87, of Terre Coupe Road, Buchanan, died at 1:48 a.m. Sunday, June 1, 2008, at Lakeland Hospital, Niles.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday, June 4, 2008, at Hoven Funeral Home, Buchanan, with Pastor Charles Johnston officiating.
Burial will be in Mission Hills Memorial Gardens of Niles.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
She was born on Nov. 30, 1920, in Kirkland, Ind. She has lived in Buchanan for approximately 63 years, coming from Niles.
On Aug. 13, 1938, she married Albert "Bud" Backus, who preceded her in death on Nov. 11, 1997.
Surviving family includes two sons, Robert (Ann) Backus of Niles and Jerry (Linda) Backus of Buchanan; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and a sister, Ernestine Harvel of Buchanan.
Memorials may be made to the Buchanan Senior Citizens Center of the Southwestern Michigan Area Agency on Aging.
