Instead of rumors, talk to your school’s administrators

To the editor:
I want to address the misinformation that people may be hearing: "Eastside will not be open next year."
I have addressed this concern to people who are knowledgeable of the workings of our school administration. They have told me that they cannot legally close Eastside for at least two more years. If, they were planning on closing Eastside, the parents of the students at Eastside would have appreciated some notification about it before the school year ended.
We, the people of Niles voted in a plan that allowed Eastside to remain open two more years. The rumor that Westside School (the current administration Building) is condemned and they have to get out is incorrect; if a building is condemned usually the people cannot be in it currently, which they are. If they are planning to use it for storage – don't we have enough buildings being used for storage in Niles???
Our school administration is attempting to do things without informing the community. If you need information concerning administrative decisions concerning your child's school or policies that are in place contact your school's principal or a school board member.
If you don't know who they are here are some who I think would be willing to keep you informed; Dana Daniels, Elaine Miller, Michael Waldron, and Kathy Zeider.
It is important to not only stay involved at your child's school but to be knowledgeable of what is happening at school board meetings and the decisions being made considering your child's education.
