Tafunai signs with Mars Hill

Evie Tafunai, a Edwardsburg High School senior has committed to continue her academic and volleyball career at Mars Hill College in North Carolina.
Tafunai, a 5-9 outside, right side hitter led the lady Eddies volleyball squad to a 45-7-3 record last fall. The Eddies won the conference – a first since 1991 and were the district champions — also the first since 1992.
She was also First Team All-Lakeland last season for the Sarah Cichowicz coached Eddies.
Off the court Tafunai is a member of the National Honor Society. She is also a Scholar Athlete, Academic All-State and was a recepient of a National Physical Fitness Award.
She currently plays for the Midwest Juniors Volleyball Club.
Mars Hill is a NCAA Division II program coached by Tony Fontanelle. The Lions went 13-19 overall and 0-13 in the South Athletic Conference in 2007.
Mondich transfers
The Grace College women's soccer team has continued to build this offseason with recruits, including former Edwardsburg standout Rebecca Mondich.
Mondich transfers to Grace from the University of Michigan's club soccer team, where she played midfield on their nationally ranked squad.
Her prep career saw Mondich earn MVP honors from her freshman to her senior year, as well as being a scholar-athlete.
Mondich plans on majoring in Biology while at Grace with intentions of going into medicine.
She is an outstanding student while graduating in the top 10 percent of her class. She is a member of the National Honor Society.
Bollenbacher signs
Edwardsburg senior Jeni Bollenbacher signed a National Letter of Intent to continue her softball career at Concordia University in Ann Arbor.
Bollenbacher, the standout pitcher for the Lady Eddies varsity softball team, helped lead Edwardsburg to its first Lakeland Conference championship in school history recently.
Bollenbacher is a three-year starter for the Lady Eddies and has a 45-25 career record heading into Saturday's district semifinal.
She has struck out 464 batters has a batting average of .326.
Bollenbacher was named the team MVP in both 2006 and 2007. She was second team All-Lakeland as a sophomore and first team as a junior.
