To the editor:
I'm one of Tim Tyler's classmates who moved away from Niles after college. I and others remember him well for many reasons, most pertaining to high school sports and activities. He was as popular and well thought of then as he was in his adult life.
Some of us were also active in Youth Fellowship together at the Presbyterian Church. A gang of us hung out at Eastside and Cherry Street parks during the summers where we would sit around on the picnic tables mostly shooting the breeze. It's fun to remember those times and the little Crosley station wagon that Tim had at that time which we weren't supposed to drive, but of course we all did. One trip resulted in the rear axle falling out. I'm not sure how he ever explained that one at home.
More recently I visited Niles and sat beside him at a basketball game. We had fun reminiscing about the old high school days. It's sad to realize I won't have that opportunity again. He truly has left us too soon. Niles High School and the City of Niles benefited greatly from his being with us. He surely will be missed.
