Niles athletic physicals set for Thursday
NILES – Athletic physicals for the 2008-09 year will be held on Thursday at 5 p.m. in the Niles High School gym.
Anyone grades 6-11 will be able to get their athletic physical for next school year for $20. Forms are available at Oak Manor, Ring Lardner, and the High School.
Summer hoops meeting scheduled for tonight
NILES – All girls in grades third through eighth grade, who are interested in playing basketball this summer are invited to an informational meeting with new varsity head coach Patrick Touhey on Tuesday, May 27.
The meeting will be held in the Niles High School cafeteria beginning at 6 p.m.
Interested players are asked to bring their parents. Coach Touhey and his staff will be there to discuss forming teams, getting gym time for practice, equipment and available tournaments.
The is a need for parents who would like to coach.
Those unable to attend, please contact coach Touhey at the high school at 684-8683.
Rocket Football to hold sign-ups May 28
NILES – The Niles Rocket Football League will hold sign-ups on Wednesday, May 28 from 5-8 p.m. at Niles High School.
The sign-up is for players ages 7-9 (must be 7 years old by Aug. 1) and for ages 10-12.
Cost is $35 for first child and $20 per additional child.

Vikings to hold boys' and girls' basketball camp
NILES – Niles High School will be holding its youth basketball camp Monday, June 2-5.
The camp focuses on teaching kids fundamental basketball skills with an emphasis on shooting. The camp will be run by varsity girls' coach Patrick Touhey, varsity boys' coach Todd Pawielski and their staffs.
The camp is for boys and girls from 3rd to 8th grade. The cost is $30.
Third through fifth grades will go from 9- 10:15 a.m. Sixth through eighth grades will go from 10:30 a.m. until noon.
Registration forms have been sent to all of the elementary schools or you may register at the door. Any questions, feel free to contact Todd Pawielski at 683-2894 ext. 356.
EYSA registration currently under way
EDWARDSBURG – The Edwardsburg Youth Soccer Association (EYSA) is currently registering players for the fall league.
Any child that is between the ages of 4 and 18 on July 31 is eligible to play. EYSA does not have geographical boundaries. Anyone within the age guidelines is eligible, including Indiana residents. Teams are coed.
EYSA is always in need of coaches, sponsors, and referees. We are offering a $25 discount off player fees if you volunteer to coach your child's team. We also offer free coaching clinics (beginner and advanced), and coaching manuals to help support the coaches. EYSA is a great family-friendly league.
Early Bird – $55 for the first player, $45 for each additional player in the same family. $125 cap per family. Registration must be postmarked by May 28.
After May 28 – $60 for the first player, $50 for each additional player in the same family. $135 cap per family. Registration must be postmarked on or before June 25, 2008.
After June 25 – $75 for the first child, $65 for each additional player and player(s) will be placed on waiting lists, with no guarantee. No family cap.
Registration will continue through June 25. EYSA will have a booth at the Edwardsburg Memorial Day Festival.
