Bucks’ takes two from River Valley Thursday

BUCHANAN – The Buchanan varsity baseball team swept a Lakeland Conference from visiting River Valley on Thursday.
The Bucks (11-14) won the opening game 7-3 with a five-run sixth inning.
Buchanan completed the sweep with a 9-6 come-from-behind victory. The Bucks scored four runs in the fourth inning to erase a 6-5 deficit.
In the opening game, Bryan Kuntz picked up the victory. He also had three singles for the Bucks.
Evan Cauffman had a pair of triples for Buchanan, which finished with eight hits. Cody Stanley, T.J. Pike and David Sokolowski all had hits.
Sokolowski was the winning pitcher in the nightcap.
Mitchell Plott, Kuntz and Pike all had two hits each. The Bucks finished the game with nine hits.
Buchanan will travel to St. Joseph on Saturday to take part in the Bears' invitational tournament. The Bucks will play Niles at 10 a.m., Lakeshore at 12:30 p.m. and Sturgis at 3.
