NILES – The Brandywine junior varsity baseball team swept a doubleheader from visiting Bridgman on Wednesday.
The Bobcats won the first game 8-6 and then took the second contest 7-3.
Dustin Bell picked up the victory in relief of starter Wayne Marazita in the first game.
Bell worked two and a third innings, striking our four and walking just one. He also gave up just one hit.
Bell also provided the big blow in Brandywine's six-run fourth inning. Bell hit a three-run home run. He also had a single and a double in the contest.
In the second game, Joe Godfrey was the winning pitcher as he went the distance, tossing a three-hitter with six strikeouts.
Godfrey and Bell each had two hits.
The Bobcats used a five-run fourth inning in the nightcap to complete the sweep.
"Fourth inning rallies helped the Bobcats come from behind for wins in both games," Brandywine coach Mat Barber said. "Dustin Bell was 5-for-6 with three singles, a double, a home run and five RBIs on the day."
The sweep gave the Bobcats a final record of 20-13.
