Brandywine softball splits with Cassopolis

CASSOPOLIS – The Cassopolis varsity softball team kept Brandywine from locking up another Lakeland Conference championship on Tuesday by splitting with the visiting Bobcats.
The Lady Rangers (23-7, 8-4) won the opening game 2-1, but fell in the second contest, 8-2.
The split left the No. 8 ranked Lady Bobcats with a 16-10 overall record and a 9-3 mark in the conference. Cassopolis is ranked No. 8 in Division 4.
Kayla Green was the winning pitcher for Cassopolis in the first game as she allowed one run on two hits.
Brooke Coshow had a double for Brandywine.
Kendra Zache (13-9) suffered the loss despite allowing just one hit with 10 strikeouts and no walks.
In the second game, Zache tossed a three-hitter with six strikeouts.
Brandywine finished with seven hits, including a double by Kristina Ford. Delaina Schroeder had two hits for the Lady Bobcats.
Green had two hits for Cassopolis.
