Martha L. Herrmann, 89, of Pokagon Highway, Dowagiac, died at 4:05 a.m. on Monday, May 12, 2008, at West Woods of Niles, following a brief illness.
There will be no services or visitation.
She was born on Oct. 13, 1918, in Foraker, Ind., to Noah Fox and Cora Elizabeth Wallace.
She had lived in Niles since 1958, coming from Indiana.
She was a member of Pleasant View Church of Christ in Cassopolis and Women's Home Economic Club of Cass County.
Herrmann was the treasurer for the PTA of Brookside Elementary School in Cassopolis. She enjoyed gardening and was a wonderful mother.
In November 1951 in LaPorte, Ind., she married John Harley Herrmann, who died on April 18, 2007.
She was also preceded in death by two grandchildren, Douglas Claridge and Amy Snider and several brothers and sisters.
Surviving family includes two daughters, Shirley (Bill) Mason of Niles and Patricia Claridge of Elkhart, Ind.; two sons, Ed Smoker of Elkhart, Ind. and James (Diana) Snider of Oregon; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Pauline MaCumber of Goshen, Ind. and a brother, Walter "Bud" (Eudine) Fox of Midwest City, Okla.
Memorial may be made to West Woods of Niles.
