Brandywine baseball wins; Bobcat softball team splits

NILES – The Brandywine varsity baseball team captured its own invitational title on Saturday.
The No. 2 ranked Bobcats (20-2) defeated Benton Harbor 10-0 in five innings and then defeated Hartford 8-2 in the title game.
Dan Reidenbach won the championship game as he scattered eight hits.
The Bobcats finished with 10 hits, including a triple by Jesse McCombs and a double by Reidenbach.
In the opening game, Brad Ritchey picked up the win with relief help from Kyle King.
Reidenbach, Dominique Pompey and Chris Brady all had doubles, while Noah Udell tripled for Brandywine.

Brandywine softball
NILES – Coldwater upset the plans of the Brandywine varsity softball team to win its own invitational tournament on Saturday.
The Lady Bobcats were edged by the Lady Cardinals 6-4 in the opening game.
Brandywine (15-9) rebounded to defeat Hartford 10-0 in six innings.
Kendra Zache went 1-1 on the day for the Lady Bobcats.
Zache struck out nine and allowed just two earned runs in dropping the first game. She fanned 16 without a walk against Hartford as she tossed a perfect game.
Offensively for Brandywine in the first game against Coldwater, Zache doubled and drove in a run.
In the second game, Delaina Schroeder singled twice, doubled, tripled and drove in a run. Brandywine also got two singles and a double from Jill Sater and Shawna Bromley. Sater and Bromley drove in three runs between them.
