Bobcat JV baseball team splits with Coloma

NILES – The Brandywine junior varsity baseball team split a doubleheader with visiting Coloma on Tuesday.
The Bobcats won the first game 10-7, but dropped the nightcap 3-1.
Derek Nichols picked up the victory in relief of starter Dustin Bell.
Brandywine finished with 14 hits, including doubles from Bell, Ralph Sater, Nichols, Aaron Saltsman and Wyatt Taylor. Ben Gerber added a pair of singles. Bell, Nichols, Sater and Saltsman also had singles.
In the second game, Tyler Hartman took the loss for the Bobcats.
Brandywine had just five hits in the game, including an RBI since by Dave Schoenleber.
"Walks kills the Bobcats all day," Brandywine coach Mat Barber said, "walking 14 batters in the two games. In the second gmae, we just didn't come up with the key hits when we had opportunities to score runs."
