BUCHANAN – The Lady Bucks varsity girls' soccer team had complete control of their non-league contest against Michigan Lutheran Monday afternoon as Buchanan ran away with a 7-0 win on their home field.
After taking a 2-0 lead in the first half the Lady Bucks pounded five more goals into the net in the second half. Andrea Hemminger picked up her first of two goals of the game in the ninth minute to start the Lady Bucks scoring parade.
Alyssa Carl followed with her first of two at the 30th minute with the assist going to Torrie Eger.
In the first half the Lady Titans were able to fire four shots at Buchanan keeper Shelby Welbaum with Welbaum making the stops. In the second half Michigan Lutheran failed to get a shot off while the Lady Bucks riddled the Titan net with shots.
The Lady Bucks finished the night with 27 shots on goal with Lutheran goalie Amy Koehler coming up with several nifty saves.
Hemminger got the scoring machine going in the second half in the 50th minute with an assist from Rachel Hunt.
Ten minutes later Amanda Wynn got into the action knocking a shot past Koehler with the assist going to Leah Hunt on the play.
Carl added her second goal of the contest at the 65th minute with Leah Hunt picking up her second assist of the game. Next it was Rachel Hunt's turn to drop the ball in behind Koehler with Kaley Kimbel getting the assist on the goal at the 69th minute.
Rachel Hunt put the icing on the win with a goal in the 78th minute for her second of the afternoon and Ashley Lolmaugh awarded the assist.
"This was a good game for us to play as we have some really tough opponents coming up," Buchanan coach Chris Froelich said following the lopsided win. "It was nice to see us play well, pass the ball, get a lot of shots on goal and spread the ball around so a lot of people are getting shots. We were finishing which was nice to see."
The win improves the Lady Bucks to 4-6-1 on the season and they are 1-4 in the Lakeland Conference.
The team will host Lakeshore on Friday with game time scheduled slated to begin at 5 p.m.
