CASSOPOLIS – Barn Swallow Theatre is hosting a dinner/theatre on Friday, May 9 and Saturday, May 10.
This first event of the Theatre's summer season will be held at the Cassopolis Council on Aging, located at the corner of M-60 and Decatur Road, Cassopolis.
The buffet dinner is scheduled for 5 p.m. both days and features two meat choices of roast pork or chicken, salad, potatoes, vegetable, rolls, dessert, and beverages. Following dinner, two one act plays will be performed at approximately 6 p.m.
The first presentation is "My Name is Herbert." Tom and Marge Rea of Edwardsburg will portray an elderly couple who have been married previously to departed spouses, either by divorce or death and are now reminiscing as they try to remember who they were and are. This hilarious look into their lives and loves will keep you smiling, or laughing out loud.
The second play is "Ladies of the Mop" by Aurand Harris. Four cleaning ladies meet on the stage after a Broadway play and fantasize that they, too, could be stars on that very stage. Each one believes she has hidden talent, just waiting to be released to the public. The results are hilarious.
The ladies are portrayed by Carol Senger, Laura Maddox and Nina Lilley of Cassopolis and Barbara Weeks of Edwardsburg.
Directing them will be James Jones of Niles.
Reservations are limited and must be made by calling Carol Senger at (269) 445 2511. Tickets are $22.50 and proceeds will be for the Barn swallow New Theatre Fund. Plan to call now to reserve an evening of great food, theatre, fellowship, and perhaps your pre-Mother's Day dinner treat.
