Lady Vikings fall in title game at Coldwater

COLDWATER – The Niles junior varsity softball team was defeated by Adrian 14-4 in the championship game of the Coldwater Invitational on Saturday.
The Lady Vikings (6-3) reached the title game with a 9-2 win over Ann Arbor Pioneer.
Ty Pond picked up the victory in the opening game against Pioneer.
Lindsey Hojara went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Taylor Chasier also had a double, while Ashley Evans, Carly Shirrell and Courtney Rough all had two hits.
In the second game, Shirrell took the loss.
Cashier was 2-for-3 with a double. Allie Roebeck and Hojara both had two hits.
Niles vs. Coloma
The Niles junior varsity softball team had its five-game winning streak snapped by Coloma on Thursday.
The Lady Vikings lost the first game 8-2 and the second contest 6-1.
Niles is now 5-2 on the year.
Shirrell took the loss in the first game. She also went 3-for-3 at the place to lead the Lady Vikings.
Hojara added a double to push Niles's two runs across the plate.
In the nightcap, Pond suffered the loss.
Cashier drove in the lone Niles run.
