NILES – Host Brandywine was able to sweep the doubles flights on Saturday at Plym Park to win its own invitational tennis tournament.
The Lady Bobcats finished with 28 points to edge Dowagiac, which finished second with 25 points. Bridgman finished third with 15 points and Lake Michigan Catholic fourth with 12.
Brandywine won two of the four singles championships with Amelia Harrison and Brittney Patterson taking titles at No. 1 and No. 2.
Dowagiac grabbed the other two singles flights with Ami Sarao winning at No. 3 and Macy Howard at No. 4.
Jamie Bartuska and Jo Ferenczi where champions at No. 1 doubles, while Lynette Earl and Nichole Coshow won at No. 2 doubles for the Lady Bobcats.
Brandywine's Katie Irons and Ashley Light took the title at No. 3 doubles with Kyla Molica and Brooke Ford winning at No. 4 doubles.
"Our kids responded well to the challenge as we had players missing and others still feeling the effects of donating blood for a community project," Brandywine coach Jo Marazita said. "My assistant coach (Tara Marazita) did a great job coaching all eight flights as my time was mostly spent running the tournament. Lynette and Nichole are really playing well and Amelia and Brittany just cruised."
