WATERVLIET – The 2008 Gordon Knutson Memorial Golf Tournament, an annual fund raising event sponsored by the Community Hospital Foundation is set for June 23.
This year's event marks the tournament's 7th year of raising funds in support of new hospital equipment and services.
"We're really looking forward to this year's tournament," Bob Becker, Community Hospital Foundation President said. "All funds raised by the event will go toward the purchase of an additional flexible surgical endoscope. It's an important and ongoing goal of the foundation to help supplement and maintain technology at our local hospital."
This year's event offers a change of venue and will be held at Lake Michigan Hills Golf Course in Coloma.
"We wanted the opportunity to offer our players a new course to experience, and still be able to keep the event local," Becker said. "The tournament provides an opportunity for local individuals and businesses to give back to the community and have a great time while they're doing it."
Available tournament sponsorships help support the Community Hospital Foundation and offers sponsoring businesses publicity at the event.
A donation toward the tournament will also support the event and will create a memorable experience for the participants.
Former Board Member, Gordon Knutson was an active golfer and avid supporter of Community Hospital. Gordon was committed to making quality healthcare services available to the residents of Coloma, Hartford and Watervliet.
The golf tournament is a fitting way to remember and celebrate his many contributions to the region.
"We've always had a great time with the golf tournament," Becker remarked. "Many of our Foundation members as well as the hospital staff and physicians participate. It's really a great way to get to know individuals from the community and make an important contribution to our local hospital."
Anyone is welcome to play in the tournament, make a donation or sponsor a hole.
The cost is $75 and $100 per player and includes a luncheon at the Lake Michigan Hills Country Club.
The Community Hospital Foundation will also hold a raffle for a chance to win $5,000.
