COA activities for May

CASSOPOLIS – The following activities are scheduled the Cass County Council on Aging in May:
May 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29, Thursdays: Dance Club. Dance to a variety of musical styles and enjoy the fellowship of friends. 10 a.m.
May 13, 15, 20, 22, 27 and 29, Tuesdays and Thursdays: Bridge Class. Learn to play Bridge with instructor Jackie Bowe. Please call the COA to sign up so that we may plan accordingly.
May 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30, Fridays: Knitting Club. Knitters of all skill levels are invited to join the group to share techniques, stories and fun while knitting items to donate to charity. 10 a.m.
May 5, 7, 12, 14, 19, 21 and 28, Mondays and Wednesdays: Bingo in Dowagiac. Bingo is a great way to have a little fun and meet a few neighbors. Everyone is then invited to stay for some social time following the games. 1 p.m. Mondays, 10 a.m. Wednesdays.
May 6, 13, 20 and 27, Tuesdays: Chess and Euchre Clubs. Get together with friends for these two popular games. Chess 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Euchre 1 to 3 p.m.
May 7, Wednesday: Low Vision Support Group. Learn from and share with others who are living with low vision. 1 to 3 p.m.
May 7 and 21, Wednesdays: Hot Breakfast. A variety of breakfast favorites are available to suit any taste, including eggs, any style, breakfast meat, potatoes, toast, juice, and coffee. Continental breakfast served daily, 7:30 to 10 a.m.
May 9, Friday: Mother's Day Brunch. Mothers, grandmothers, and special women are invited to enjoy a free brunch and time with friends. 9 to 10 a.m.
May 10, Saturday: Strut your Mutt. Bring your dog and a donation for the Cass County Animal Shelter for a walk around the COA walking trail. Local pet care specialists will be there, and you can enter your dog in a beauty contest. 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
May 13, Tuesday: Parkinson's Support Group. Open to families, friends, caregivers, and those diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. Speakers, informational materials and discussions on living with Parkinson's disease. 1 to 3 p.m.
May 13, Tuesday: Introduction to Elder Law. Attorney Caroline Dellenbusch will discuss legal issues that relate to seniors and take questions beginning at 1 p.m. Appointments are available after the presentation; call (616) 451-4242 for fees and availability.
May 17, Saturday: Euchre Tournament. Enjoy the game with friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Please call to reserve a seat.
May 20, Tuesday: MS Support Group. New support group for those living with Multiple Sclerosis. Call Brenda or Sandi at (269) 445-8110 for more information. 1 p.m.
May 26, Monday: Closed for Memorial Day.
May 28, Wednesday: Caregiver's Support Group. Aimed at those taking care of ill or elderly loved ones, the group offers a chance for caregivers to discuss issues, coping strategies, and gain support from others. Care services during the meeting for those in need can be arranged free of charge by calling Suzanne Beurmann at the COA at (269) 445-8110 or (800) 323-0390. 1 to 3 p.m.
