THREE OAKS – The League of Women Voters of Berrien and Cass Counties is kicking off its annual Spring Speakers Series with a meeting on Wednesday, April 23 on "Senior Powers: Election Issues 2008."
The panelists are: from the Region IV Area Agency on Aging Lynn Kellogg, Chief Executive Officer, and Christine Vanlandingham, Fund and Product Development Officer and from AARP Kim Hodge, Michigan Senior State Coordinator of the "Divided We Fail" Initiative.
They will explore the issues of particular importance to senior citizens and their families with the goal of encouraging all the attendees to become more educated and discerning voters.
The second meeting will be exactly two weeks later on Wednesday, May 7 with Michigan Supreme Court Justice Elizabeth Weaver the lead speaker of three on "Judicial Elections in Michigan."
Joining Weaver are Rich Robinson of the Michigan Campaign Finance Network and Cliff Arnebeck, a public interest attorney and election expert from Columbus, Ohio.
These meetings are made possible by grants from Pokagon Fund and the League of Women Voters Education Fund and the Program on Constitutional and Legal Policy of the Open Society Institute.
Both meetings will be at 7 p.m. at the Acorn Theater in Three Oaks. See lwvbcc.org for more information.
Both meetings are open to the public with no admission charged. As with all League meetings, there will be opportunities to question our knowledgeable and dynamic speakers.
