Dowagiac's spring clean-up is scheduled next week, April 21-25.
Fliers are available at City Hall and on Dowagiac's Web site, www.cityofdowagiac.com.
All materials should be placed curbside before 6 a.m. Monday, April 21.
To avoid neighborhood blight, debris cannot be placed curbside before Saturday, April 19.
Property owners will be responsible for removal of all debris remaining after crews pass down their street.
Questions about the spring clean-up program or disposal alternatives should be directed to the Department of Public Services (DPS) office at 782-8200.
Winter remnants remain as DPS crews have continued patching potholes.
The rainy weather contributed to the pothole problem, as patched areas fill with water and cause asphalt to pop back out.
The leaf vacuum was out last week picking up the last of loose-leaf piles.
The city has also picked up brush as needed.
The Grounds Department has been pruning trees throughout the community.
The Grounds Department also purchased four Pink Kousa dogwoods for the Arbor Day celebration April 25. Two of the dogwoods will be planted in front of City Hall.
Part of the mini-Arbor Day grant funds were used to purchase the dogwoods.
The wastewater treatment plant mechanical equipment for the "head works" has arrived and should be installed in the next few weeks.
