Harriet Marie Chlebek, 70, of Christiana Lake, Edwardsburg, died on Tuesday, April 1, 2008, suddenly at her home, after a brief illness.
A Mass of Christian Burial was said on Monday, April 7, at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Edwardsburg with the Rev. Joe McCormick, pastor, officiating.
Cremation followed the service.
She was born on May 4, 1937, in South Bend, Ind., the daughter of Ted and Carrie (Jeziorski) Kolesiak. Her father was the owner of "Kolesiak's Grocery and Meat Market" on the west side of South Bend.
She graduated from Saint Adelbert's Grade School and then St. Joseph's High School in 1955.
On Oct. 25, 1958, in South Bend, Ind., as Harriet Kolesiak, she married Richard (Dick) I. Chlebek.
She retired in 2002, after 17 years working for the Saint Mary's College in the bookstore.
She was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Edwardsburg.
She was proud of her Polish ancestry and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was loved by all who knew her.
Surviving family includes her husband, Dick; four daughters and their husbands, Michele (Mark) Klote of South Bend, Ind., Sharon (Steve) Richard of South Bend, Ind., Diane (Steve) Bogunia of Edwardsburg and Andrea (Kevin) Robinson of London, England; nine loving grandchildren, Justin Smith, Cole, Caitlyn, Courtney and Cara Bogunia, Lindsay, Ryan and Ty Richard and Alexis Robinson; a sister, Tina Springer of Tucson, Ariz. and a brother, Ernest Kolesiak of Warsaw, Ind.
