Global warming or not, I want spring

I didn't use my remote start on my car this morning. After all, it's spring, right?
My bottle of de-icer was empty. I was forced to sit and wait while my frosted windows melted.
The other day I shoveled my porch twice when the snow was up to the door sill.
There are still snow mounds next to my driveway which were piled up during the 21 times I was plowed out this winter and spring.
I have seen a robin and a cardinal and I am sure they are also wondering where is spring?
One of the best reasons to be living in a state which has all the seasons – is that it has all the seasons.
Lately, though, that doesn't seem to be the case.
My friends have already been cleaning their closets and basements in anticipation of holding garage sales to make a little money, but mainly clear out unwanted things.
Other friends who like to grow flowers are anxious to dig into the soil and clear out the dead leaves in the flower beds.
Roger can hardly wait to go out and fire up his John Deere.
I am not sure why, as there is no grass to cut, except maybe he just wants to ride around the yard after being holed up for a long winter.
We are ready but the weather isn't cooperating.
As my bones age, I find I am less tolerant of the cold. It would be nice to be able to turn off the furnace and even open up the house to air out.
I guess I must just be patient.
I am tired of dragging my garbage pail out of the snow and ice from where it rolled down the hill after the wind blew it.
I kid myself that I will start walking when the weather is nice, but at least maybe I will walk to the mailbox, instead of driving to it.
We all need sun. It brightens our outlook on life.
Just the few times recently when we had a hint of the coming season, there was a dramatic increase in the happiness of those I work with.
This constant cold, snow, rain and darkness are depressing.
Buying flowers for Easter helped somewhat. They still look beautiful and add some life and color to the house and my desk at work. Like spring they aren't lasting, but we need them.
The kids at the schools are anxious to get their spring sports in and I know my two adult sons who are on baseball teams can hardly wait to start practicing.
My dog even needs some exercise. She refused to go out when it is raining or snowing, though she does enjoy rolling in the snow.
Let's all think spring and maybe it will just come a little sooner. I would hate to move from winter right into a hot summer.
I am usually more optimistic but I really need a dose of sun and spring.
Sorry.
