Lakers’ C.J. Rumpf earns all-league honors in track

ALLENDALE – Craig Rumpf, Niles High School All State sprinter, is currently a Freshman at Grand Valley State University and a scholarship member of the Lakers track team.
On March 1, he qualified to compete in the Indoor GLIAC-NCAA Division II conference meet at the University of Findlay, Ohio., where Grand Valley State captured its ninth consecutive GLIAC conference Indoor Track Championship.
Rumpf, is the only freshmen to qualify for the finals at the conference meet, finished second in the 4×400-meter relay and sixth in the 400-meter dash – both finishes earned points for the Lakers.
Rumpf earned All-GLIAC honors with his second place finish in the relay.
Grand Valley finished 4th at the NCAA II Championships in Mankato, Minn. at the University of Minnesota-Mankato.
Grand Valley will open their outdoor season on March 28 with the sprinters and jumpers traveling to the University of Missouri.
