NILES – A volunteer is someone who chooses to enter into any service of his free will. These people come few and far between here at Brandywine School. Many parents do not like to volunteer because they assume that to volunteer means time and lots of time.
We hope that as you read about our dedicated volunteers you might have a change in your opinion of what it takes to lend a few hours a month to a worthy cause … your children's future.
The future of our children in the Brandywine community should be enough of a reason to get involved. The growing class size which is up to 30 students per class is another reason.
We had a chance to meet a few of the volunteers from Brandywine this week, Mrs. Crystal Napper, Mrs. Kim DeJonge and Mrs. Harriet Dean. They volunteer in many places of our school.
Mrs. Dean volunteers in the library because of her love for fiction books and children. She has plenty of work helping Ms. Tittle keep books in order, processing new books and maintaining paperback books. She is very much appreciated.
Mrs. Napper and Mrs. DeJong both help out with Partnership for Children. They both agree that it is rewarding for them to give back to the community they live in.
Mrs. Napper stated that on average she puts in a few hours a week. Some weeks may be more because of special events taking place.
Mrs. DeJong stated that the Partnership for Children could use more volunteers in many areas such as the Daddy Daughter Dance and the mother son event.
Room parents that help plan the parties and help with field trips are needed badly. The list goes on and on. The more volunteers that we can get the more events we can plan to make our school a fun place to learn and grow.
The next time you are in the hallways at our schools and you see one of our volunteers give them a big smile and hug for all they do. It is because of these unique individuals that we have such a wonderful school.
Thank you very much to Mrs. Dean, Ms. Bookwalter, Mrs. Shreve, Mrs. Crystal Napper, Mrs. Kim DeJong, Terri Szilagyi and many more.
