Hats off to the city, county and state road crews that worked countless hours to keep our roads clean during the most recent blast of winter.
And on a holiday to boot!
Overnight, southwest lower Michigan turned into a winter wonderland with many portions of Cass and Berrien counties receiving more than a foot of snow within a 48 hour period.
Come morning, the commute to work was made easier by the fact that the road crews were out all night clearing the way.
We are fortunate in our area to have such a great group of people who get up and go out when most of us would rather stay in bed and sleep.
They brave some rather treacherous roads so that we can make it to work, school or to the grocery store for supplies.
They do it with little or no fanfare, nor as much as a pat on the back.
So here is to all the people who got out there and cleared the way for us this week.
We appreciate your efforts.
