Niles Police to purchase light bars

NILES – The City Council and Police Chief Ric Huff accepted a check from Marie Weimer on behalf of the Riverfest committee to be used to purchase replacement batteries for the defibillators.
Only a few items were up for discussion at Monday's Niles City Council meeting.
In the consent agenda, the board approving a request from the Police Department to purchase six emergency light bars with LED lighting from D &R Electronics of Bolton, Ontario for use on police vehicles at a cost of $8,910.00 plus shipping.
Also, the board approved a request from the Utilities Department to contract with Peerless Midwest, Inc. of Mishawaka, Ind. to chemically clean and completely overhaul the pump/motor at Airport Well at a cost not to exceed $33,500.
Following a closed session, the council approved to purchase easements from National Standard for $26,000.
The council adopted a resolution to approve and update City records naming Sandra K. Naugle as the new Finance Director/City Treasurer authorized to sign bank documents necessary to open deposit accounts on behalf of the City and authorizing the use of a facsimile signature stamp for her signature.
Also, they approved a consulting agreement between the City and Catherine Marsh to provide a portion of the administration associated with the City's Homeowner Assistance Program.
Appointment to the boards included the approval of the appointment of John Stratton III to a four-year term on the Niles Airport Board effective immediately and expiring on Dec. 31, 2011.
Also approved was the re-appointment of Marie Weimer to a three-year term on the Board of Review effective immediately and expiring on Dec. 31, 2010.
City Administrator Terry Eull has been instructed to negotiate with the former Community Development Corporation (CDC) for the purchase of lsome ots on Cass Street.
