With Christmas rapidly approaching, we would like to take this opportunity to invite our readers to give generously this holiday season.
There are many families in southwest lower Michigan who will do without this Christmas unless we step in and help.
There are a variety of ways to bring holiday cheer to others.
Contact your local church. Many of our churches provide food, gifts and clothing to families during this time of year.
You can contact the local Salvation Army or Red Cross to see what they are in need of.
Speaking of the Salvation Army, give when you pass a bell ringer at one of our area stores. The money raised will be put to good use, you can count on that.
Give items to your local Goodwill Store or to the St. Vincent DePaul Society in Dowagiac.
Those items may be sold as Christmas gifts, as well as helping them raise money to help support those less fortunate.
'Tis the season to be merry. We can't think of a way to bring you and others that merry feeling than to give.
If you find that things are tight and you cannot afford to give, then we suggest that you volunteer your time at one of the fine organizations listed above, or contact the Volunteer Center at 683-5464 or visit www.volunteerswmi.org. They will point you in the right direction.
So have yourself a merry little Christmas this year by helping others.
