NILES – The Niles Girl Scout Troop No. 755 began a recycling program at the Howard Elementary Blue Ribbon School. They have decorated two trash cans for recycling plastics – one is for plastic bottles and the other for plastic bags.
Their leader, Cindy Coleman, make a trip to the recycling center on Reum Road once every two weeks. Co-leader is Deb Gaideski.
The troop has also researched information about recycling and posted this on the school wall.
Their goal is to better our planet and help save polar bears.
Howard School was recently named a Blue Ribbon School and is possibly the first school in the area with a recycling program.
