NILES – The Brandywine Band program, with the help of Shelton's Farm Market, is holding its first annual Citrus Fruit Sale.
The band is taking orders now through Nov. 26 for tangerines, tangelos, navel oranges, juice oranges and grapefruit. The fruits will be delivered to Brandywine High School fresh from Texas and Florida on Dec. 1.
The goal of the band is to raise $5,000, which will go toward the purchase of much needed rain and overcoats for the marching band, as well as replacing some large instruments, which are over 30 years old. Funds will also help cover the "once every four years" high school band trip.
Orders for fruit may be purchased in half cases (20 pounds), which vary in price from $15 to $16 dollars, or in full cases (40 pounds), which also vary in price from $25 to $34. No order is too small or large as the band welcomes them all.
If you need more information, contact Sarah McAllister, high school band director, at 683-4800 or Theresa Harrison, band parents association president at 684-2239.
Additional news about the band activities, concerts, fundraisers and the order form for the citrus sale may be found on the Brandywine Band Parents web page at www.brandywinebobcats.org.
