CASSOPOLIS – At the November annual meeting of Barn Swallow Theatre, a long awaited dream was realized.
Merrill Clark and Barn Swallow President Bill Burns finalized the transfer of three acres of land on the corner of M-60 and Mullen Road with the signing of a quit claim deed.
Clark along with her sons, Lincoln and his wife Shelley; Tobin and her grand children Landon and Grace; were in attendance for this presentation.
Since the original barn theatre burned down Oct. 5, 2004, the board of governors has been searching for a place to rebuild a permanent theatre.
After exploring many options, the tentative offer of the late John Clark and with the approval of Jefferson Township officials, serious discussion began with John's wife Merrill. After months of ironing out details with nearly every government entity, we are now able to begin the process of erecting a new Barn Swallow Theatre.
With this generous gift to start, the Barn Swallow Theatre Board of Governors is looking for the support of the community as it launches a fund raising campaign to accomplish our goal.
Barn Swallow will not only need financial assistance, but will accept physical help as well as material and expertise in all phases of this building process. The group has had the support of the community since its beginning in 1983, and anticipates its continued support as it once again have a theatre to accomplish its goal of "providing quality entertainment in a rural setting."
With your help, this will be a reality soon.
