NILES – Niles' Mark Calhoun finished fourth overall at the Big 16 Cross Country Championships held at Riverview Park in St. Joseph on Saturday.
Calhoun ran a time of 16:40. James Kirschner of St. Joseph was the boys' overall winner with a time of 16:20.
Mattawan took the team title with 79 points, while Portage Northern was second with 87 and St. Joseph third with 89 points. Niles finished 13th with 294 points.
Shawn Calhoun finished 59th for the Vikings, while Anthony Horvath finished 67th, Justin Kronewitter 80th, Paul Mooney 84th and Caleb Bliss 87th.
Marshall won the girls' championship easily over runner up Sturgis.
The Lady Wildcats amassed 87 points compared to 104 for the Lady Trojans. Niles finished ninth with 184 points.
Anne Marie Arsenau of Sturgis was the overall winner with a time of 19:28.
Madie Rodts of Niles just missed out on a top 10 finish as she was 11th with a time of 20:08.
Liz VandenHeede was 25th, Autumn Grayson 32nd, Sarah Tyler 54th, Samantha Brawley 62nd, Bree Donahue 75th and Allie Hoyt 80th for the Lady Vikings.
