My daughter gets upset when all people talk about is the price of gas. Today though it was again the topic of conversation around the water cooler and coffee maker. (Which I sit right in front of.)
I saw a 33 cent difference last night between stations which weren't that far apart, all were in my driving area for work.
It has become a puzzle. Will the prices go up on Thursday? They usually do, right before the weekend traveling.
If I stop and fill up tonight, will I be sorry in the morning because the price went down?
For someone like me, who drives a considerable distance every week, a 25 or 30 cent difference in price per gallon can really add up and make it really difficult to budget your money.
Well, as my daughter would say, enough about the price of gas already.
Thursday this week at 3 p.m. the mural on the Cass County building on State Street in downtown Cassopolis will be dedicated. The community is invited.
The work by Dowagiac artist Jerry Schlundt has been well accepted by the community.
The comments I have heard have mostly been very positive. The only negative one was of the lack of diversity in the representation of those selling or purchasing vehicles.
The work is possibly also inspiring other murals to be contemplated on other buildings.
The money for the mural was all donated. No tax payers monies were used.
My thanks to those Cass County Commissioners who encouraged this project.
Even if other business owners refrained from painting pictures, so much to improve a community could be done with just some cleaning and paint.
Many areas in our communities are an embarrassment. When visitors come in what do we want them to see? – Rundown homes, junk cars and trash, or clean, welcoming businesses and homes.
Have you caught any of the new fall season shows?
I have always loved the idea of time travel so I was excited when I heard about "Journeyman," which is on Monday evenings.
The idea is that the star travels back in time to help people, save a life or prevent a tragedy. He doesn't know what he is supposed to be doing.
He leaves in the middle of dinner, or work or whenever and finds himself in another place at another time. Then he tries to learn what the date is and what he is doing there.
While traveling in time, he meets his own girlfriend, who is also a "traveler."
The show has caught my interest, but I believe it still lacks good writing. I would like to see better scripts.
I doubt it will ever be as good as Christopher Reeve's "Somewhere in Time," filmed on Mackinac Island here in Michigan.
I still like the old crime shows best.
