Dowagiac man charged with accosting boy

NILES – The man arrested Saturday for trying to solicit a young boy in one of the bathrooms at the Wal-Mart in Niles Township has been charged with accosting a child for immoral purposes.
Harvey Lee Murray, 53, of Dowagiac, entered a not guilty plea Monday during his arraignment at the Berrien County Trial Court in the South County Building. He faces a maximum penalty of four years in prison if convicted. His bond was set at $25,000 cash or surety.
According to a press release issued by the Michigan State Police, the child contacted his mother after the incident, who then contacted store personnel. The store contacted the police.
A trooper from the Niles post, along with deputies from the Berrien County Sheriff's Department, responded to the scene.
After interviewing several subjects at the scene, Murray was arrested. He was lodged at the Niles Law Enforcement Complex.
According to Kory Lundberg, spokesperson for Wal-Mart, Murray was not an associate with the store.
